Erin's Inventor Inspiration

There is always something each season that stands out in my mind. One little detail is always in center stage, that I want to add to everything garment I make or in every piece of clothing I buy. This fall that very detail is gathers or pleats. With all the extreme silhouettes gracing the runways, the oversized look is in. What is the best way to create volume? Pleats! Gathers! And I can't get enough of it.

WIth that said, you won't be too surprised to see the assortment of inspiration I have collected for the Inventor Challenge. I love seeing pleats in medium, even heavy-weight wool; gathers in velvet and light-weight wool. Then you contrast the structured menswear feel with that of feminine lace or silk. The look is striking and unexpected.
