Kathy's Inventor Jacket is complete!

Time is always escaping me, especially when I have a sewing deadline approaching. Try as I might, I never even started my Inventor Shirt. I had such inspiration, sketches, and even fabric, but the project wasn't accomplished. Kathy, on the other hand, has beat me to it! Even though her garment was a little late for entry in the Inventor Challenge, the finished product was worth the wait!

Kathy created her Inventor Jacket using Washed Wool Jersey in Jade. That fabric has become Kathy's trademark. In the past year she has created the most wonderful garments, in a beautiful range of colors, all from Washed Wool Jersey. It creates a Boiled Wool look, with wonderful drape and texture.

This jacket was lengthened 7" from the original pattern. She used a checkboard wool to face the sleeves, front and sewn on scarf. The scarf, which can be worn open or tied, was created as a rounded yoke with the sleeve. The collar band was left off, with a new rounded collar added. Great work!

Now I really need to get to my Inventor Jacket. I will make sure to post the results.

The Perfect Tote

I don't know about you, but I'm sitting in the freezing cold of a good ole Kansas winter and thinking about what I want to see these days. One thing I'm going to make, like right now, is a new tote bag - the one that is on the cover of my Sew Easy Bags book, only I'm going to use the great painted wool that we have on our web site. It's the perfect weight and is really fun. It looks like someone took a paintbrush to the ski slopes of Aspen.

I am always in pursuit of the perfect tote, and this one comes as close as anything I have ever seen. It's big enough to hold all of those cut-out-and-ready sewing projects that travel from the office to my home more often than I'd like to count.
Happy sewing!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from all of us at The Sewing Workshop Pattern Collection!

We are looking forward to all the exciting events coming up in 2007!

First Linda starts off with the Florida Sewing Getaway in Orlando, Florida. The retreat is January 25-28, with spectacular events and workshops coming directly from Linda herself and Louise Cutting of The Cutting Line Design Pattern Collection. The event is full, but if you were lucky enough to sign up early, you can find more information here, Promotions.

Are you in the Denver area or looking for a winter getaway? Visit us at The Denver Creative Festival, February 2-4. Look for a expansive collection of garments created from our pattern collection, on display. Created using great techniques and unique fabrics. We will showcase all our current patterns and books for purchase. For more information, visit Creative Festival.

The big event! Don't miss out on the nations largest sewing show! Sewing & Stitchery Expo 2007 will be held in Puyallup, Washington on March 1-4. WIth our expansive booth, we will be showcasing our patterns, highlighting silk fabric, books, buttons, fabrics and more.

We have also been choosen to display our garments in our 4th Style Show!

"Recent studies suggest that wearing 24 ounces of lowfat silk a day reduces stress and helps you look and feel terrific!"

A silk style show you won't forget!

So if you haven't had the chance to check out the Sewing & Stitchery Expo, this is the year! Can't wait to see you all there!
