Village Bag complete!

After many appliqueing hours (I'm quite the novice), the Village Bag using Anna Maria Horner cottons is finally complete. Granted, it was shown during the recent Bernina University in Kansas City, so my sewing isn't that slow. But it did take me longer than expected.

The options are endless with these bright and energetic cottons, so don't miss out!

Just Add a Zipper!

I have to say, I love bags with zippers. They are so practical and easy to carry around. I also love the Daily News Bag. It's quick and easy to sew. The topstitching details really make it seem professionally done. So I decided to combine my two loves, by creating a Daily News Bag with a colorful Riri Zipper.

I used Deep Plum High Performance Upholstery for the bag and Grey Ultrasuede for the trims and handles. The multi-color Riri Zipper gave a nice contrast to the dark purple and silvery grey. I just added the zipper to the right side of the Ultrasuede trim, with the zipper tape showing to the outside.

The slouchy and soft feeling of this bag is perfect for these warm summer days. It's sporty, yet elegant style will fit right in line for end of the summer travels.

Don't forget to check out other High Performance Upholstery fabrics: Grey & Black Mesh, Red & Turquoise Mesh, High Performance in Bordeaux, High Performance in Plum, and Perforated Suede in Black.

Summer is a Work in Progress

During these warm summer months, I find myself attracted to fresh flowers, singing birds, the sound of the ocean (if only for vacation), and bright, eye-catching colors in the landscape. This attraction always follows in my wardrobe with easy pieces like summer dresses, white linen pants, simple tanks and bold accessories.

Luckily, I'm not the only one with summer fever. During a recent trip to the Portland Quilt Market, Linda met Anna Maria Horner, a new and super-talented young fabric designer. She was so excited about her fresh new designs from her debut home décor Drawing Room fabric collection. Now that we have them in our studio I understand why. Take a look at what we are experimenting with right now.

These fabrics are perfect for all three of our Bag Patterns: L2 Bag, Daily News Bag and Village Bag. My Village Bag is a work in progress, but check back for more updated pictures.
