Working with Knits

About three years ago I discovered knits. I have always loved to wear knits, but I'd never gotten into actually sewing with them. I was a little hesitate at first, but I started with stable knits and worked my way towards two-way stretch knits. This transition was a learning process but I came to enjoy the flexibility of knits when it comes to technique and fit.

As with any fabric, there are certain notions or tools that help tame frustration and create a more professional looking garment. Knit Stay Tape is amazing for keeping hems in place while topstitching or to stabilize the neckline. Don't attempt knits without it! Comes in 3 colors: black, natural and white!

Tahoe Pant

I love fall! The leaves start to change and the slight cool breeze calls for a jacket or cardigan. I can start layering my year-round knits with skirts, cropped pants, dresses, and of course, boots.

The Tahoe Pant is perfect with a casual jacket (try the Zona Jacket shown here) and knee-high boots. If the weather hasn't hit below 60, pair it with a dressy tee and ballet flats. With the look of a skirt and comfort of a pant, you can't go wrong! On sale now through October 15th, only $12.

The Liberty Shirt has arrived!

Introducing a new pattern from The Sewing Workshop, the Liberty Shirt. This shirt is amazing! The unique diagonal side seams create such a slimming line in the front. Create your own in striped cotton or linen, animal print silk or vibrant light-weight wool. You can wear it as a shirt, buttoned up the front or as an open jacket. It will be a perfect staple for your fall wardrobe.
