The Sewing Workshop Textile Tour
with Linda Lee
April 9 - 17, 2019
About the Workshop:
The Sewing Workshop is headed to London! Join Linda Lee and a London team of experts in a unique touring, class and shopping experience.
We will be based in Richmond-upon-Thames in the beautiful Petersham Hotel, a charming boutique hotel located near Richmond Park just outside of central London. From there, we will explore the best of fashion and textiles in what some consider the fashion capital of the world.
Touring experiences include:
A guided tour of Clothworkers' Centre with Susan North, curator of fashion from the 1500-1890’s and costumes for the royals.
See exhibits such as medieval English embroidery and Arts and Crafts textiles at the famed Victoria & Albert Museum.
Visit craftsmen and artisans at Old Spitalfields Market, and see the intimate portrait of the lives of a family of Huguenot silk-weavers at the Dennis Severs’ House.
Walk the neighborhoods of Portobello Road Market for antiques and collectables, Notting Hill, Holland Park and Leighton House with fabric shopping along the way.
Visit Ham House, built in 1610, and considered one of the grandest Stuart Houses in England.
Explore Frock Me! Vintage Fair which features 60 specialist stall holders selling vintage fashion and textiles from all over the world.
Meet fashion designer Zandra Rhodes in her studio to see favorite items from her archives.
Spend the day with textile artist Sarah Campbell, co-founder of Collier Campbell, fabric painting on natural fabrics. All materials and aprons are included.
Learn to make ribbon roses and other techniques with cord, knotting and tassel-making at VV Rouleaux, the famous ribbon and trims store used by the best interior and fashion designers and milliners.

Meet the Teachers:
Linda’s training and experience as an interior designer has come in handy as she travels the country teaching the art of combining beautiful fabrics for the fashion –conscious home sewer. Along with teaching fitting skills and fine sewing techniques, she is known for designing patterns under the name of The Sewing Workshop, a line of patterns for the modern sewer who is interested in architecturally interesting styles to flatter with flare.
Along with three talented staff members, she operates out of her pattern-making studio in Topeka, Kansas, where you will find a huge inventory of fabrics that are sold online. She produces a monthly series of inspirational tutorials called Sew Confident! in which she breaks down the latest fashion trends into real-life sewing experiences for people who want to sew better than they can buy.
With ten Craftsy classes and 13 books under her belt, Linda has the depth of experience and enthusiasm needed to pass on the fine art of sewing clothes to her students.
Linda loves cats, fashion labels Marni and Akris, Roger Federer, vintage hand stitching, Fillmore Street in San Francisco, and cashews.
