Have you seen a version of a beautiful oversized red jacket flying around the inter-webs? Well, according to Melissa Greene and friends, it's all over the place and she just had to make a version of it, and, well . . . we love it.
Here's the original Eileen Fisher garment, taken for inspiration. Swoon, right?
Slouchy shoulders, oversized fit, sleek lines and it's kimono-like shape - what's not to love?
Here's what Melissa did:
-She took the Ikina Jacket, making a size XXL.
-She added room to the pattern around the body, approximately 4".
-She lengthened the pattern 8", or enough to make it knee length.
-Took the original Front Lapel pattern piece, cut it on the straight of grain instead of the bias, cut it 6.5" wide and used it single layer, not folded as the pattern states.
-Added a back seam for interest.
This iconic shape takes elite form because of the boiled wool and its felted surface. What makes this garment extra lush is the mild texture the boucle adds. We've got tons of boucle options on our site in lots of colors!
