In our latest installment of Sew Confident! 2016, guest artist Barbara Williams makes upcycling TRULY upscale.

One of the gorgeous looks that Barbara shares is this Plaza Jacket with hand-applied embroidered flowers which she upcycled from another coat.

While looking through the New York Times Style Magazine, Linda came across this page from Gucci's Spring 2016 ad campaign. This is a men's look with embroidery on gingham seersucker. What a similar feel. And you can be sure the Gucci is quite expensive.

Now look at how Barbara's applied embroidery pops against the black and white houndstooth. She made her own garment incredibly upscale by embellishing in an unexpected way.

We originally thought the Gucci was a bomber jacket, but on further research found the runway look and saw it is actually a pullover. Would you have ever considered this as inspiration for a project? It's funny where inspiration can appear if you keep your eyes open and your design antennae up!
