For some, July in Kansas may not be something to look forward too – after all, it tends to be quite warm. However, we always look forward to July, because that is summer Sew Kansas time! This year we hosted two groups of sewists who traveled to Topeka from near and far to join us for three days of stitching, pattern fitting, learning new techniques, and well, playing with fabric, prints, buttons and everything that makes sewing fun. Let's face it, this is just summer camp for people who love to sew.

Our first group was a mix of seasoned and beginner seamstresses. Some of these ladies have been long-time Sewing Workshop friends and wore a different SW pattern everyday! What patterns do you spy above? I see a silk Eureka Shirt (in a beautiful Pucci silk!) a classic Siena, and few eTees and an Urban Pant. Below you can see a MixIt Tank, an eTee made into a dress (see the tutorial on transforming the eTee into a dress here), a fabulous Zayn and a great Memphis, in a fabulous lightweight floral knit. If you love it, act fast, we only have 2 1/2 yards left!

While the workshop is full of fun and games, these ladies work hard! Here are some action shots of ladies from both sessions, working away.

Our second July class, July 26-28, comprised of some familiar faces as well as some new friends. This group finished many projects over the three days! Below you can see a San Diego Tunic that had been lengthened into a dress, as well as a Chateau Coat made out of this fabulous reversible polka dot fabric. Both of these projects were started and finished over the duration of the workshop. Geri, who you can see below on the right, wore her burnout knit Eureka Top and linen West End Pants. She made this ensemble with Linda last month at the Chateau Dumas workshop in France. Samantha's shortened Cityscapes Dress, which you can see at the top of this post, was also made at the Chateau.

The next round of Sew Kansas doesn't start until September, but we are looking forward to it. Also, we are working on scheduling our Sew Kansas dates for next year, so keep an eye out for an announcement soon!
